TL;DR: Afnan 9 PM Elixir is the spicier, boozier, richer take on the cult-budget 9 PM — warm cinnamon, juicy apple and bergamot over a caramel and lavender heart, drying into a deep amber, vanilla and tonka base. It's a cozy, sweet-spicy cold-weather crowd-pleaser that punches far above its price. Try the authentic decant from $6.99 first. Shop the decant →

I'm a twelve-year collector and the founder of Aromatick, and this is one I've spent real time with. Here's an honest review — what it smells like, how it actually performs, and the smart way to wear it without gambling on a full bottle.

What is it?

9 PM Elixir (2025) is Afnan's intense, elevated version of its wildly popular 9 PM. Where the original is a sweet apple-cinnamon-vanilla oriental, the Elixir turns everything up and adds spice and depth — richer cinnamon, a boozy-caramel sweetness, and warmer, spicier facets (nutmeg and cardamom) over a deeper amber-vanilla base. It's the same cozy DNA, made bigger and more grown-up.

Afnan 9 PM Elixir notes — apple, cinnamon, caramel, tonka and vanilla
The accord: cinnamon, apple and bergamot over caramel and lavender, into a warm amber-vanilla base.

What it smells like

It opens warm and spicy — real cinnamon with a flash of juicy apple and bergamot, sweeter and spicier than the original from the first spray. The heart adds a boozy caramel and aromatic lavender that make it feel indulgent and rich. It settles into a deep, cozy base of vanilla, amber and tonka with a resinous labdanum warmth — a proper cold-weather comfort scent.

"Spiced apple and caramel over warm vanilla — cozy and rich." The Elixir is 9 PM turned up.

It's sweet and spicy without tipping into cheap-smelling, and it reads far more expensive than its budget price.

Performance & longevity

Performance is strong — expect a solid 8+ hours on skin with good projection in the opening hours before settling closer. As an intense/elixir concentration it's richer and a touch longer-lasting than the original 9 PM, and it clings well to clothing. Excellent performance for the price.

💡 Tip: it's rich and sweet — 2–3 sprays is plenty, especially indoors or in warmer weather.

When to wear it

9 PM Elixir is a cold-weather, evening scent — its spiced apple, caramel and warm vanilla shine in fall and winter, on dates and cozy nights out. It's too rich and sweet for summer heat but perfect once the temperature drops. A budget-friendly cold-weather crowd-pleaser.

The smart way to try it

At $6.99 for a decant, 9 PM Elixir is one of the lowest-risk cold-weather buys out there — but sweet-spicy ambers are personal, so trying before you commit still makes sense. Grab the hand-poured decant, wear it through a few cool evenings, and if you love it the full bottle is an easy, affordable yes.

FAQ

Is Afnan 9 PM Elixir worth it?

For a cozy, spicy-sweet cold-weather scent, absolutely — it's richer and spicier than the already-popular 9 PM, performs strongly (8+ hours), and smells far more expensive than its budget price. At $6.99 for a decant, it's one of the lowest-risk cold-weather buys available.

What does 9 PM Elixir smell like?

A spicy amber: warm cinnamon, juicy apple and bergamot up top, a boozy caramel and lavender heart, and a rich vanilla, amber and tonka base. It's cozy, sweet and spicy — a cold-weather comfort scent.

What's the difference between 9 PM and 9 PM Elixir?

The original 9 PM is a sweeter, lighter apple-cinnamon-vanilla oriental. The Elixir is spicier, boozier and richer — more cinnamon, a caramel sweetness and warmer, deeper amber-vanilla. Choose 9 PM for the lighter classic, the Elixir for more spice and depth.
