Invictus arrived in 2013 in a trophy-shaped bottle that told you exactly who it was for: competitive, sporty, unapologetically mass-appeal. Behind it was an unusually stacked perfumer team — Véronique Nyberg, Anne Flipo, Olivier Polge and Dominique Ropion — who paired a sharp grapefruit-marine opening with a bay leaf and jasmine heart and an ambergris, guaiac wood, oakmoss and patchouli base. The result is the salty-sweet freshness that defined a generation of designer aquatics.
It's the root of one of the biggest flanker trees in modern perfumery. Victory turned up the sweetness; Victory Elixir went full resin-and-vanilla for cold weather; Platinum and Aqua explored the fresh side. The original EDT is still the purest expression of the DNA — and the easiest to wear in heat.
