Born in Roma Intense (2023) is the moment the line went fully after-dark. The same perfumers behind the 2019 original β Antoine Maisondieu and Guillaume Flavigny β reduced the pyramid to three statements: Bourbon vanilla, lavandin (lavender's more aromatic, slightly camphorous cousin), and smoked vetiver. The black-to-ruby studded bottle matches the mood.
What makes it work is restraint. Vanilla-lavender is a well-trodden pairing in men's fragrance, but the vetiver base adds a dry, smoky floor that keeps it masculine and wearable instead of dessert-like. It's the Born in Roma for people who found the original too fresh and the EDT flankers too light.
